San Tan Valley, Arizona is in Pinal County. This community sits at the foothills of the San Tan Mountains. This area is one of golf communities, family neighborhoods, and age-restricted communities. The area has not been incorporated because many were concerned about over-urbanization and boundary concerns in shared state revenue. Until 2000, the area was mostly undeveloped desert and agricultural land. It has estimated population of 80,000.
Golfers will enjoy the Encanterra Country Club. Designed by Tom Lehman, the course has a core style layout that leads the course inward, away from any residences and distractions. It has fantastic views of Superstition Mountain and San Tan Mountain. The Golf Club at Johnson Ranch has two distinct nines, with elevated tees and approach shots. The back nine has a route of ample fairways and long holes on the floor on the foothills. It offers a well-rounded golf experience. Those who love races will enjoy the Arizona Speedway, which is a 3/8 of a mile dirt track with Friday and Saturday night sprint cars. Hikers will enjoy taking advantage of the many trails on the mountains, as well as enjoying water sports on the rivers and lakes close by. There are museums for history lovers, farmers markets for those who love fresh vegetables and fruits.
The real estate in this thriving community is a combination of smaller homes and large luxury homes. You will find three-bedroom homes to six-bedroom homes in the classic Santa Fe style. The available schools are public, private and charter. The lots are good sized and well taken care of, as are the streets. The area continues to develop but maintains a laid-back atmosphere. Residents see it as a perfect place to start a family, and that it is a safe environment with low crime rate. The city has many who commute to larger cities for work, but new businesses are starting up as the area grows, making local jobs more plentiful.
